The present article forms part of a doctoral dissertation that aims to examine the construction of identity and its defining markers among Greeks who migrated from Georgia to Greece. The research is interdisciplinary in nature and is grounded in the analysis of oral narrative texts. More specifically, the study draws on semi-structured interviews conducted by the author in Thessaloniki with members of this group through face-to-face interaction, which were subsequently transcribed for analytical purposes.
It is acknowledged that the careful and appropriate selection of research methods is of crucial importance in studies of this kind, as such methods constitute fundamental research instruments that determine the reliability and validity of the findings. Accordingly, this paper outlines the methodological framework employed for the collection and analysis of oral histories in order to explore the identity of the informants, as well as the key factors shaping and defining it.
