Тhe narrative techniques of postmodern prose are based on the style offered by the theoreticians of the so called “new novel” and hinge, specifically, on balancing between fiction and reality, overshadowing events by texts, disregarding components of borrowed plots etc. Though “new novelists” did not discover this manner, they refined and adjusted it to new aesthetic program, which was adopted and imbued by postmodern novelists. This trend attracted many theoreticians. The variety of their programs shares the following conclusion: postmodernism consciously ignores all the rules and limitations of the previous cultural tradition. Adhering to this view, I illuminate the path that the romantic hero of the Prometheus passed from love to hatred to men, thus becoming an anti-hero of postmodernism.
